I don't know about you, but the first few months of the year can feel unending. Maybe it is the weather, the long nights, or the fact there are no bank holidays until April, but these three months are always disproportionately hard work. The older I get, the more I understand why my Grandma always runs away to Spain for months on end at this time of year!
Unfortunately, I don't have the luxury of being able to escape the winter for three months, and instead settled for a change of scene and some time off line by escaping to Deerpark in Cornwall.
A collections of lovely raised cabins situated around a lake in a woodland valley, Deerpark is somewhere quite special. Trees rise all around you and it is darker and quieter than any place I have known - a perfect place to get away and recharge during these long dark months.
While I wouldn't describe the cabins as boutique, they are well appointed, clean, tidy and the majority come with hot tub - relaxation is very important. What was really special was the full glass wall looking out over the forest, it was special to wake up surrounded by trees!
