On bank holiday Monday, over 10,000 people ran the Bupa London 10,000 - a 10k run through central London - including two of my wonderful friends, Emma and Becca, who I went along to support!
I was pretty envious when I saw the race route, who wouldn't want to take a run through central London, along the river and past some pretty spectacular sights, before finishing on The Mall?!
As I couldn't run it, I decided I would walk the last 1.5k of the route from The Houses of Parliament to the finish line right outside Buckingham Palace. It was such a nice walk, and there was a great atmosphere - particularly when Mo Farrah passed!! If you haven't gone along to watch a race like this before I would recommend it, the enthusiasm is infectious (and the runners really need the support for the last stretch!), and the road closures give a new perspective on the city, it was pretty special walking down the middle of the road on the Westminster Bridge!
So, I will be honest, I was so busy taking advantage of all the photo opportunities that a closed road in London presents, that I didn't actually realise Mo Farrah was passing me....hence the shot of him running in to the distance!
My lovely friends Becca and Emma at the finish line, complete with finishers medals and cans of gin and tonic! Well done ladies!
