Last week I asked the Instagram community what they'd ask me if they could ask me anything, and this is what they came up with...
Do you have any tips for someone who wants to organise their fitness regime?
I'd start by asking you what you want to get out of your fitness regime and go from there. Anything you do has to work with your life otherwise it's not sustainable and it's going to end up being stressful, which isn't what fitness should be!
What inspired your interest in fitness?
This is something I've thought, and written about, a lot. The short answer is that I felt like I needed a hobby, and much as I tried to resist it I just kept coming back to the idea of running! Turned out I really enjoyed it and just wanted to keep going and to get stronger. However, I also think there was something deeper going on. Running helped me work my way out of a really difficult time in my life and realise what I was capable of.
What shampoo do you use?
I'll start by saying I have A LOT of hair. It's very thick and not especially manageable, so haircare for me is all about the taming! I wash my hair around once a week, and I like to eek it out as long as I can in some sort of gross competition with myself. Right at the moment I'm using this shampoo, followed by this conditioner, a liberal amount of this (which I also use through the week to manage bedhead) and some of this. So, just a few products!
Would you rather escape to a warm beach holiday, hit the slopes on a winter mountain getaway or take a hiking vacation through the rainforest?
That's such a difficult question to answer! Right at the moment I'm excited for a warm beach holiday in January - it's been a long time since I last went away, and I'm in desperate need of a proper break from the world. However, I also really love the idea of reliving an expedition I took when I was 16 and hiking through the rainforest again! Skiing probably holds the least appeal, but I'd still give it a shot!
What's your top foods for shacking on in evening lectures?
Ha, so it depends how far in to the term it is! At the beginning of term I'm all healthy - nuts, dried fruit, maybe some jerky - but by the end of the term I can't get through a lecture without a bottle of coke!
What would you NOT want to tell your mum if you were writing a letter to her?
Nice try Mum.
What inspired the name of your blog?
I actually can't remember! I first set my blog up in 2012 (I think) on a bit of a whim (it was terrible and I relaunched a few years later!), I suspect it just felt like a 'blog name'! These days it makes me cringe a little bit, but I'm also quite attached to it.
Ever fancied trying a mud run?
Yes! I was all set to do the Major series a couple of years ago, but unfortunately it didn't quite happen. I wouldn't rule out getting muddy in the future!
What is your favourite book you've ever read?
That's a really difficult question to answer! The book I've always gone back to is Don't Ask Me Why by Tania Kindersley, it's my comfort reading. Other books which have really left their mark are Go Ask Alice and In The Ditch, again books I've always gone back to. More recently I've really loved The Handmaid's Tale.
What is your favourite album of this year and WHY?
I really struggle with this type of question! I am a big fan of High Contrast, and his album this year was great.
What's your favourite bass music related podcast?
Given Mike asked this question I should probably say Bass and Breaks!
