Pilates at Epoch Fitness with ClassPass

Have you met ClassPass

ClassPass is pretty awesome. You see it gives you access to a huge number of studios right across London so that you can hit as many classes as you want! There is a cap of three classes per studio per month, but with so many studios you're never going to run out of options. All for £89 a month, which when you think about how much classes can cost works out as pretty decent value!

To celebrate the launch of ClassPass in London over the next month I'm going to be exploring the studios of London and trying out all the classes I've fancied for ages, but never quite found the time to go to!

First up, Reformer Pilates at Epoch Fitness

Reformer Pilates is something I've wanted to try forever. Years ago I had some pretty significant problems with my hips. I was in pain nearly all the time and I spent a lot of time being poked and prodded, x-rayed, scanned and manipulated. I spent hours in physio and even more time with a sports therapist in a rehab unit at my university. I'd spend my time wobbling around on a balance board (so much fun!) watching enviably as other people bent and stretched on the reformer in the corner. It equally scared and fascinated me. At the time I wasn't really in a fit state to try it out myself, but the fascination never quite left me, and I was so excited when I saw classes were available through ClassPass

Epoch Fitness is tucked away in the basement of Fitzrovia Community Centre, a friendly building in the heart of the city. The bright studio is low key, calm and comfortable, the perfect place to try out something you're a little intimidated by.

After a quick introduction to the equipment (which isn't as terrifying as it looks) I was ready to go. During the 60 minute class we were taken through moves that worked our whole body. After months of running and high intensity workouts it was a nice change to slow down, focus on form and body control, to stretch out and move muscles that rarely get an outing. There was wobbly moments as I got used to moving the bed with one foot, but I loved working with the machine and testing my body in a different way. It was really refreshing.
